Phaenom

Phaenom, a hybrid performance combining sound, multiple visual media, lyrical voice, and movement, explores anthropological shifts in the material and digital tools that shape self-perception and our perception of others, through myths, tales, and digital narratives. It stages a dialogue between an organic voice and its synthetic Doppelgänger by digitally distorting the singing voice with signal-processing algorithms and invoking a vocal and corporeal digital avatar.

Phaenom overlays organic and digital bodies with a particular focus on the theme of the gaze (drawing on references to Narcissus and Black Mirror): How has the tool that enables self-observation evolved throughout history? What influence do reflections in water, mirrors, and digital doubles have on our perception of ourselves?
